What are Promotional and Transactional Data?Promotional data is defined as data that is used for promotional documents such as postcards, letters, business cards another such documents. Promotional data only contains a number of fields and their values. In a Data Source file, it often refer to the information (customer and/or invoice) contained in the header part. The picture below shows an example of a promotional extracted record:
Transactional data is similar to promotional except it also contains a variable number of data lines, called detail lines which are stored in detail tables . For example, an invoice generally contains a client's name and address as well as invoice information (promotional data), in addition to the invoiced items, charges and details (transactional data). The picture below shows an example of a detail table for a transactional extracted record:
