Send to Folder

Send to Folder Action tasks send the files they receive to a local folder. They perform the same function as Send to Folder Output tasks, with the only difference being that in this case PReS Workflow will wait for the task to be completed before going on to the next task in the configuration.

As with any task that can refer to network resources, it is important to understand the considerations involved with paths and permissions of these resources. Please refer to the Network considerations page.

Input

Any data file in any format.

Processing

A copy of the data file is saved on the hard drive at the specified location.

Output

The original data file, Metadata and Job Info variables are not modified, they are passed on to the next task.

Task properties

General Tab
  • Folder: Enter the path of the folder to which the files are to be saved.
  • File name: Enter the name of the output files generated by this task. To prevent each new file from overwriting the previous one, you should use variable names. You can use any combination of text, variables and data selections; see Variable task properties.
  • Concatenate files: If this option is selected, when PReS Workflow tries to save a file under a given name, if a file under that same name already exists, instead of overwriting it, PReS Workflow will append the content of the new file to that of the existing file. This appending process will go on until the file is removed from the folder.
  • Separator string: This option is used to add a separator string between the content of each file when the Concatenate files option is selected.

On Error Tab

For a description of the options on the On Error tab see Using the On Error tab.

Miscellaneous Tab

The Miscellaneous tab is common to all tasks.

It contains a text area (Task comments) that lets you write comments about the task. These comments are saved when the dialog is closed with the OK button and are displayed in The Task Comments Pane.

Check the option Use as step description to display the text next to the icon of the plugin in the Process area.

The tab also provides an option to highlight the task in The Process area with the default color, set in the Preferences (see Colors), or the color selected or defined under Highlight color on this tab.
To revert the selected highlight color to the default color, open this tab, turn the Highlight option off and close the dialog with the OK button; then turn highlighting back on.
Highlighting can also be turned on and off via the task's contextual menu and with the Highlight button on the View ribbon.
