Master Pages

Master Pages, in PlanetPress Connect Designer, are resources that are built similarly to Sections, but do not have any text flow. They contain a single page and are generally used to apply certain static elements to some or every pages in Print Outputs. Only one Master Page can be applied per page in printed output. They are edited in the Workspace just like Sections, where the Source, Design and Preview pane are visible.

Contents

Master Pages can contain static text, images and elements. They can also contain variable elements such as @text_variables@ , or dynamic images, but they cannot contain overflowing elements such as dynamic tables.

Margins

In the Master Page Properties, margins can be set for the Header and Footer, however this does not change the content placement within the Master Page itself. These margins refer to space in the header and footer where contents will not appear in the Section when this master is used. This can be useful, for example, if a first page of an output should have a large header with client information but all other pages have a compressed header with less details. The contents of overflowing pages will automatically adjust to these margins.

In Master Pages themselves, there are no margins (or rather the margin is 0).

Usage

Using Master Pages is done from the Sheet Configuration dialog, which is a property of Sections. For a Master Page to be active and used, it must be set to a specific position in the Sheet Configuration dialog. Note that the use of Master Pages is completely optional.
